Head Brewer's Diary: 4th week, January in 2023

It's been a wild week here at Gorilla Brewing Company.

Monday, January 23rd and Tuesday, January 24th

Monday and Tuesday were holidays for the Korean New Year, so we took a well-deserved break to spend time with our families.

Wednesday, January 25th

But when today rolled around, it was back to business as usual. Unfortunately, it was also the coldest day of the year, and our pipes were frozen solid. So, instead of brewing, we spent the morning trying to defrost the pipes and get the boiler working.

But just because we couldn't brew, didn't mean we weren't busy. Our kegging team, led by Youngseok Lee, worked hard to keg as much beer as possible. And Sal Lee and our distribution team, including Bareum Jang and Yoonwon Lee, made sure our Busan deliveries were on schedule.

Thursday, January 26th

Today was a triple batch day, with the whole team back in action. We brewed 3000 liters of our Popsicle IPA and sent our truck to Seoul for deliveries. It was a long day, but we were able to get everything done on schedule.

Friday, January 27th

Today was another day of brewing, this time we brewed another 3000 liters of Popsicle IPA to fill our 6000 liter tanks. It was also the usual friday cleaning day. Youngjae Jo and the cleaning team did a great job.

And on top of all that, I filmed the first episode of our podcast, which we're very excited about. I was joined by some special guests, but we'll have more information on that soon.

[ Next week ]

I'll be heading to Seoul for some sales work, while the rest of the team works hard in the brewery. Andrew Gamble will be in charge while I'm away, and I know he'll do a great job.

It's been a busy week, but we're a great team here at Gorilla Brewing Company, and we're always up for a challenge. Thanks for reading, and we'll see you next week!
